Wildflower Wedding Ideas are some of the most romantic and unforgettable ways to celebrate your big day. Don’t get us wrong — flowers of every shape, color, scent, and season are beautiful, and all of them shine in their own unique ways. But there’s something about wildflowers in the spring — and specifically wildflower weddings — that just hit different. Maybe it’s the sun deciding to come around more often, or the world starting to thaw out, or the days stretching longer and the birds chirping a bit louder. And while all the hallmark signals of spring emerging from the depths of a dark winter certainly make it one of the best times of the year to begin with, spring wildflowers deserve a special category all their own.
And when you combine weddings with wildflowers? Forget about it! Name a more perfect combination than wildflower weddings. We’ll wait…
Yeah, the better combination just doesn’t exist. And as self-proclaimed wildflower wedding experts — thanks to our stunning wildflower field on the property here at MCR — we would know. Every spring and summer, we’re lucky enough to play host to some of the most indescribably beautiful wildflower weddings you could imagine.
So whether your wedding venue has a beautiful wildflower field, or you’re just looking for some wildflower wedding inspo to add to your big day, we’ll cover everything you need for the wildflower wedding of your dreams.

Wildflower weddings make such a perfect pair because it’s all about embracing natural beauty, and leaning all the way into a timeless aesthetic that will always be in style. There’s an organic, imperfect beauty that’s inherent with wildflowers that just isn’t the same with perfectly manicured arrangements that you might see in a wedding featuring more traditional florals. And, as you might guess, a byproduct of that imperfect natural beauty is a more cost-effective price that’s easier on your wedding budget than other options. When you work with what’s in-season and naturally available, you win — and you get a stunning product, too!

If you’re looking to incorporate wildflowers into your ceremony setting, you have a number of options.
The first is using a wildflower field, like the one we have at MCR, as the natural backdrop for your nuptials. The big bonus with this option — aside from getting married in a stunning field of wildflowers, of course — is that you can go really simple with your setup. There’s no big, elaborate, expensive arch needed when you have a sea of wildflowers as your backdrop. You can go super simple with an altar and minimal decorations to let nature shine and do her thing!

If you don’t have a field of wildflowers as an option for your ceremony backdrop, consider using in-season wildflowers to enhance what you do have. Something like a simple wooden arbor with wildflower accents would be a beautiful display for your ceremony, as would scattered wildflower petals along your aisle. Really, you can’t go wrong with any way you choose to incorporate wildflowers into your ceremony.
Something to consider with using wildflowers for your wedding is timing. Peak wildflower season typically starts around March or April and runs until about June, depending on your location, of course. If you’re booking your venue more than a year in advance, it would be a good idea to take a visit to your venue at the same time of year you’ll be getting married so you can get an idea for the time of the day where the lighting is best, as well as which kinds of wildflowers will be growing at your wedding location at that time of year.

As you’re thinking about ideas for your bridal bouquet, consider going for a looser organic wildflower bouquet instead of a more traditional structured arrangement. Or, maybe you’re looking for the best of both worlds by including both wildflowers and some garden flowers for added texture, intrigue, and color? To continue the natural vibe all the way down to the stems, keep the stems visible and natural with just a simple ribbon or twine wrap at the bottom. Whether you’re building your own bouquet or working with a florist, make sure you’re focusing on seasonal wildflower varieties that are native to your area.
Now that you’ve got your bouquet dialed in, how about adding some wildflower flare to your centerpieces and reception florals? Simple wildflower arrangements in different kinds of vessels, like mason jars or vintage bottles, adds visual intrigue and stays with the more natural, laid back vibe that comes naturally with wildflowers. Mix heights and textures across tables so each arrangement feels unique, and remember that less is always more.

It’s hard to imagine a more stunning color palette than that of wildflowers. Draw inspiration from your wildflower wedding florals and lean into the soft purples, yellows, blues, whites, and pinks make for a pretty flawless, nature-inspired color theme that’s hard to beat. The more earthy, natural tones are quite a difference from the more saturated bright hues of some of the more traditional wedding floral arrangements, which for many people is exactly what they’re looking for. Pull those colors into everything from bridesmaid dresses to linens to signage across your venue. If you’re going for a wildflower wedding, then lean all the way in and go for it!

Speaking of leaning in and going for a wildflower wedding — what about your paper goods and stationery? Wildflower illustrations on your invitations is a beautiful homage to the simplistic beauty of these florals. You could even take it a step further with pressed wildflowers right in your program or menu for a unique touch that your guests will certainly remember (and maybe even take home with them as a keepsake.)
Some other ideas to weave in your wildflower wedding theme: scattered wildflower petals on each dinner table, wildflower seed packets as wedding favors, a wildflower crown for the flower girl, and wildflower garlands for your cake table.
The most important thing to remember with these small touches incorporated throughout your big day: Don’t overdo it. Wildflowers, by their very nature, are more lowkey and natural. The more intentional you are with when, where, and how you incorporate wildflower wedding florals, the better it will look.

Wildflower weddings work best when you don’t try too hard. The beauty is in the natural, organic elements — and in you giving space for those natural, organic elements to shine in their own lowkey way. Yes, it takes planning — scouting your ceremony location, timing your wedding to peak bloom season, working with a florist who understands the loose, unstructured aesthetic, etc. But when it comes together, it should feel effortless.
Spring gives you the most options when it comes to natural wildflowers, but the look can work year-round if you’re intentional about it. If you’re considering a wildflower wedding at Montgomery Creek Ranch, come see the field in person during bloom season. There’s no substitute for walking through the space in full bloom with the warm spring sun on your back, all the while imagining your own ceremony taking place right there.
Spring books up quickly, so if you’re thinking about it, reach out sooner rather than later. We’d love to help you create something naturally beautiful with our beautiful wildflower field as the backdrop for your lifetime memories!
