It’s essential to be thoughtful about your alcohol catering and bar services because, well, alcohol can quickly add up to being very expensive. We recognize that, so we’ve put together this list of tips for planning out your bar for your next event or your big wedding day:
Understand what your venue or caterer provides with the bar
Here at Montgomery Creek Ranch, our alcohol catering in Indiana provides our couples with bar service that includes: bartenders, the bar planning, and the setup, too! We also understand the importance of preference! That’s why we have full availability for all types of alcohol. This allows us to provide our couples with any bar set-up that they prefer. It also helps us create the perfect signature cocktail with and for our couples, too!
Plan out your budget
There are so many facets to planning a wedding and discerning the budget. You may not be sure what kind of bar package you can afford for your wedding, which is totally understandable! Consider what kind of bar you want.
The kind of bar option you choose is dependent on your guests, your budget, and what kind of celebration you are looking to host, so make sure you’re intentional about what you choose to host.
Here is a list of our bar options explained:
- Open Bar- An open bar means that guests can order/request as many drinks as they wish at no cost to themselves. In this scenario, the couple usually pays a flat rate per person for this kind of bar option.
- Beer & Wine Only- This is, of course, just as it sounds!! This option is Beer and Wine for the guests only and does not include any hard liquor.
- Partially Hosted Bar- This is also known as a hybrid bar! This kind of option is kind of the best of both worlds. This is when the couple hosts an open bar for two hours. Following that two-hour timeframe, the bar will convert to a cash bar for the remainder of the party. This is great for couples who would like to offer something to their guests, but also need to be mindful of their budgeting, etc.
- Cash Bar- This means that the guests are expected to pay (cash/tab) for their own drinks. Additionally, for parties with limited guests enjoying alcoholic beverages, we have known couples to request a cash bar in their wedding plan, but the couple pays the tab at the end, not the guests. This makes sense for friends and family who won’t fully utilize the open bar option.
Plan out signature drinks or any fun touches
Signature drinks are really fun to plan out! For example, we’ve seen cucumber, mint, and vodka drinks called “Engage-mints” – the signature drinks are really fun to create and to name, too.
Your signature drinks are a great way to infuse your own personal flair, your wedding theme, or your love story into the celebration. Or, you can just have a lot of fun coming up with a good play on words for the drink name!
